Frank Levingston was an amazing American who lived a very long life. He was born in 1905 and passed away in 2016. He was a brave soldier who fought in World War II. For a time, he was the oldest living man in the United States. He was also the oldest known American veteran from World War II.

A Long and Brave Life

Early Years

Frank Levingston was born in a place called Cotton Valley, Louisiana. He was one of seven children in his family. His family was African American.

Serving His Country

In 1942, Frank Levingston joined the U.S. Army. He served as a private during World War II. He was part of the Allied invasion of Italy. This important military action took place from September 1943 to January 1944.

After the war ended, Frank received an honorable discharge in 1945. This means he completed his service with a good record. After leaving the army, he worked as a union worker. He was very skilled in finishing cement. Frank Levingston never got married.

A Remarkable Age

On August 16, 2015, Frank Levingston became the oldest known living military veteran in the United States. This happened after another veteran, Emma Didlake, passed away.

He also became the oldest living American man on April 19, 2016. This was after Felix Simoneaux Jr., who was also from Louisiana, passed away. Frank Levingston lived in Lake Charles, Louisiana, for some time. He passed away in May 2016 at the age of 110. He lived a truly remarkable and long life.
