Fred André (born on 31 May 1941 – died on 24 January 2017) was a Dutch football player. He was best known for playing as a centre-back. This means he was a key player in the team's defense. He played for many years, mostly for the club Telstar. Later in his career, he also became a football manager.
Playing Career
Fred André started his professional football journey in the early 1960s. He quickly became known for his strong defensive skills. His main position was centre-back, which is a defender who plays in the middle of the field. Their job is to stop the other team from scoring goals.
Time at Telstar
Fred André spent most of his playing career at Telstar. He joined the club in 1963 and stayed there for a long time, until 1976. During his 13 years with Telstar, he played in 328 matches. This shows how important he was to the team. He also managed to score 18 goals, which is good for a defender.
Playing for Volendam
After leaving Telstar, Fred André moved to another Dutch club, Volendam. He played for Volendam from 1977 to 1979. He made 74 appearances for this club and scored 2 goals. Becoming a Manager
