Fred Briggs, born on February 3, 1980, is a former professional rugby league player. He played as a prop, which is a forward position, for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in the NRL during the 2000s.
Fred Briggs' Early Life
Fred Briggs was born in La Perouse, New South Wales, Australia. He grew up in La Perouse and attended Matraville Sports High School.
Fred started his rugby league journey with the La Perouse United club. In 2000, he joined the Souths Flegg Cup team. He later played in the Premier League with Souths when they returned to the NRL in 2002. After a short break from playing in 2003, Fred played for Souths Juniors in the Jim Beam Cup in 2004. He then joined the Sydney Bulls in the Jim Beam Cup for the 2006 season. Towards the end of 2006, Fred got a chance to play for the Canterbury Premier League team. This happened because many players were injured, and the club needed more players.
Fred Briggs' Playing Career
Fred Briggs made his first appearance for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in the NRL. This happened in Round 19 of the 2007 season, on July 20. He played against the Gold Coast Titans. Fred got this opportunity because several key players, like Willie Mason and Mark O'Meley, were injured. In 2008, Fred briefly played for South Sydney before returning to the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.
