Fred Cash, born on October 8, 1940, is a talented American singer known for his soulful voice. He is best known as a long-time member of the famous music group, The Impressions. He joined the group in 1960, taking the place of Jerry Butler.
Fred Cash is one of the longest-serving members of The Impressions. His amazing work with the group led to their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991. Later, in 2016, Fred Cash and The Impressions were also honored by being inducted into the National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame.
Fred Cash's Music Journey
Fred Cash was actually one of the first members of a group called The Roosters. This group later changed its name and became The Impressions. He left the group for a short time but then came back. When he returned, he took the place of Jerry Butler, who was an original member.
Even today, Fred Cash continues to perform and tour with The Impressions, sharing their classic music with fans. You can see Fred Cash, along with other original members like Sam Gooden and the late Curtis Mayfield (in old video clips), in a special DVD from 2008. This DVD, called "Movin On Up- The Message and The Music of Curtis Mayfield & The Impressions", features the group's first-ever long interview.
