About Fredd Bear's Breakfast-A-Go-Go
This exciting show aired five days a week, from Monday to Friday. It started bright and early at 7 AM. The program ran for three years, from 1969 to 1972.
Fredd Bear's Breakfast A-Go-Go was packed with different kinds of entertainment. It featured cartoons, ongoing stories (serials), music videos, and even news. It was a bit like an early version of another famous Australian show, Hey Hey It's Saturday.
Who Was On The Show?
The main host of the show was Fredd Bear, played by Tedd Dunn. Fredd Bear was a lively character who didn't speak. He was first seen on another show called Magic Circle Club.
Another host was Judy Banks. The show also had regular guests like Colin McEwan, newsreader Michael McCarthy, and magician Ian Buckland. Bruce Rowland was the musical director and wrote the catchy theme song. In 1975, Tedd Dunn won a special award called a Logie Award for his amazing work on the show.
Winning Prizes!
The show had a cool way to keep its young audience watching. They used a membership card system. Every 10 to 15 minutes, a viewer's membership card number would pop up on the screen. If your number appeared, you won a prize! All you had to do was contact the TV station.
Why Is It Hard To Find Today?
Sadly, almost none of Fredd Bear's Breakfast-A-Go-Go still exists. This is because each day's show was videotaped mainly for quick reference. The same tape was used over and over again each day. This meant the old recordings were erased to make space for new ones.
The only known footage from the show is a performance by Bruce Woodley. He was a member of the famous band The Seekers. He sang his advertising song, The ANZ Bank Travelling Man, on the show.
More About The Show
