Frederick Ira Ordway III (born April 4, 1927 – died July 1, 2014) was an American scientist who loved space. He wrote many exciting books about spaceflight and exploring the universe.

Frederick Ordway's Early Life and Education

Frederick Ordway went to Harvard University for his studies. He also spent several years studying in Europe, including at the University of Paris. He was very interested in space and even collected many original paintings about space travel.

A Prolific Writer and Expert

Ordway was a member of many important groups focused on space. He wrote, co-wrote, or edited over thirty books. He also published more than three hundred articles about space.

Contributions to Space Exploration

Frederick Ordway was a scientific consultant for the famous movie 2001: A Space Odyssey. He helped make sure the science in the film was accurate.

Long-Standing Member of Space Societies

When he passed away, Ordway was the longest-serving member of the American Rocket Society. He had joined this group way back in 1939.

Teaching and Recognition
