Fredericktown is a small community located in Washington County, Kentucky, in the United States. It is an "unincorporated area," which means it doesn't have its own separate local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of the larger county. You can find Fredericktown just south of U.S. Route 150 and southeast of a bigger town called Bardstown.
A Look Back at Fredericktown's History
Fredericktown has a long and interesting history! The area was first mentioned in a land survey way back in 1785.
The community itself was officially started in 1818. When it was first established, it was known by a slightly different name: Fredericksburg.
By 1828, when a post office opened in the community, its name had changed to Fredericktown. The post office served the people of Fredericktown for many years before it finally closed its doors in 1911.
