FreeRice is a special online game that helps feed people who are hungry. It's run by a group called the World Food Programme, which is part of the United Nations. When you play FreeRice, you answer multiple-choice questions. For every right answer, FreeRice donates rice to people in need around the world. It's a fun way to learn and help others at the same time!

How FreeRice Helps

FreeRice is a non-profit website. This means it doesn't try to make money for itself. Instead, it uses money from advertisements on its site to buy rice. This rice is then given to people who are struggling with hunger in different parts of the world.

Donating Rice Through Play

When you play FreeRice, you pick an answer from a multiple-choice question. If you get the answer right, a certain amount of rice is donated. The more questions you answer correctly, the more rice is donated. You can also improve your knowledge in many subjects like English, math, and science.

Changes in Donations Over Time

When FreeRice first started, it donated 10 grains of rice for each correct answer. In 2008, the game was doing very well. It was able to donate 20 grains of rice per correct answer. However, in 2009, there was a big economic problem around the world. Because of this, the amount of rice donated per answer went back down to 10 grains.
