French Village is a small, unincorporated community located in eastern St. Francois County, Missouri, in the United States. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's usually managed by the county. French Village is about ten miles east of a town called Bonne Terre. Around 1,226 people live in French Village, and its special mail code is 63036.

The Story of French Village

French Village was started in the 1820s. It was founded by a group of people from French Canada. These early settlers helped build the community from the ground up. Over time, the village grew. An important step for any growing community is getting a post office. French Village got its own post office in 1857. This meant people could send and receive mail right in their own community.
