How the Competition Works
Each episode of Fridge Wars features two talented chefs. They cook two different meals for two different families. The only ingredients they can use are what they find inside each family's refrigerator.
Cooking Rounds
Chefs get 45 minutes to prepare each meal. They also receive hints to help them make food the family will really enjoy. After each round, the families taste the food. They don't know which chef cooked which dish.
Judging the Meals
Families use special devices to rate the food. They score each meal in three areas:
- Look (how it appears)
- Taste (how it tastes)
- Originality (how creative it is)
These scores are then averaged. The chef with the highest total score wins the episode. The winner gets a special trophy!
The Fridge Challenge
During the second cooking round, chefs face an extra challenge. This makes cooking even harder and more exciting!
- In the first episode, chefs had to make a meal for ten people instead of six.
- In episode 2, chefs had to pick a mystery sauce to use in their dishes.
- In episode 3, chefs had to add specific ingredients: bitter melon and Vietnamese basil.
- In episode 6, the chefs had to switch the dishes they were cooking with each other!
