Frostburg is a small community located in Jefferson County, in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It's known as an unincorporated community, which means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own separate local government like a city or a town. A Look Back in Time

The history of Frostburg goes back many years. An important part of its story began in 1858 when a post office was first opened there. A post office is a place where people can send and receive letters and packages. When it first started, the community's name was spelled "Frostburgh," with an extra "h" at the end. However, in 1892, that "h" was removed, and the name became "Frostburg," just as it is spelled today.

Special Buildings

One of the most notable buildings in Frostburg is the Frostburg Hopewell United Methodist Church. This church is very old and has a lot of history! In 2019, it celebrated its 175th anniversary, which means it had been standing and serving the community for 175 years. This makes it the oldest church in all of Jefferson County, Pennsylvania.
