Fruit-tella facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Fruit-tella are chewy sweets that are a bit like Starburst or Chewits. They are made with real fruit juice, natural colours, and natural flavours. These tasty treats are created by Perfetti Van Melle, the same company that makes popular sweets like Mentos and Chupa Chups.

Types of Fruit-tella Sweets

Fruit-tella comes in many different forms and flavours. You can find them in sticks, bags, and even some unique shapes!

Fruit-tella Stick Chews

In the UK, Fruit-tella is often sold in 41-gram sticks. These sticks have many exciting flavours, including:

  • Strawberry
  • Summer fruits (Orange, Lemon, and Strawberry)
  • Blackcurrant
  • English Fruits (Blackberry, Raspberry, Apple, and Pear)
  • Strawberry Cocktail (Strawberry-Blackcurrant, Strawberry-Lemon, and Strawberry-Melon)
  • 2Fruity (Strawberry & Banana, Blackcurrant & Apple, and Raspberry & Peach)
  • Cola/Lemon (a mix of Cola and Lemon, launched in 2012)
  • Magics (these Fruit-tella sweets change flavour as you chew them, launched in 2013)
  • Sour (Sour Orange, Lime, and Pink Grapefruit)

Fruit-tella Filled Sweets

For a short time, Fruit-tella made sweets with a chocolate filling. Even though chocolate isn't a fruit, they still called them Fruit-tella! These chocolate-filled sweets were first released in 2007. Some people found them too hard. In 2008, they came back with a softer texture, but this range is no longer made. The flavours included:

  • Raspberry and Cherry
  • Chocolate and Caramel
  • Orange and Mango
  • Strawberry and Melon

Fruit-tella Crunchies and Shaped Sweets

Fruit-tella also makes other fun products:

  • Fruit-tella Crunchies are similar to Mentos but have a chewy Fruit-tella centre.
  • In 2011, Fruit-tella launched 'UFOs', which were like Skittles.
  • They also released 'Pixels', which are tiny, chewy candy pieces shaped like Fruit-tella.
