• 972: Kanemichi was given two important jobs at the same time. He became nadaijin (Minister of the Center) and kampaku (Chief Imperial Advisor). The kampaku was a very powerful position, advising the emperor directly.
• 974: He was named Daijō Daijin (Chancellor of the Realm). This was the highest government position in Japan at that time.
• December 20, 977: Kanemichi passed away when he was 51 years old.
