Futoshi Ikeda (池田 太, Ikeda Futoshi, born 4 October 1970) is a Japanese football coach and a former player. He played as a defender. He is currently the head coach of the Thailand women's national football team.
From 2021 to 2024, he was the head coach for the Japan women's national football team.

Futoshi Ikeda's Football Journey
Playing Days: From University to Professional Football
Futoshi Ikeda was born in Koganei, Japan, on October 4, 1970. After finishing his studies at Aoyama Gakuin University, he started his professional football career.
In 1993, he joined the Urawa Reds football club. During his first year, he played many games as a left side back. However, he did not play as often in 1995. He decided to retire from playing at the end of the 1996 season.
Coaching Career: Leading Teams to Victory
After he stopped playing, Ikeda began his coaching career. He started with the Urawa Reds in 1997. For several years, he mainly coached the club's youth teams. He also coached the senior team from 2002 to 2008.
In 2012, he moved to another club, Avispa Fukuoka. He worked there as a coach for the main team until 2016. For a short time in October 2012, he even stepped in as a caretaker manager. This happened after the previous manager left.
Coaching Japan's Women's National Teams
In 2017, Ikeda became the manager for the Japan women's U-20 national team. He led this team to win the AFC U-19 Championship in 2017. This win also helped them qualify for the U-20 World Cup in 2018.
At the 2018 U-20 World Cup, his team achieved a great success. They won the championship, becoming world champions! Later that year, in November, he also managed the Japan women's U-17 national team for the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
From 2021 to 2024, Futoshi Ikeda was the head coach of the Japan women's national football team. This is Japan's main women's team. As of 2025, he is now the head coach for the Thailand women's national football team.
