Futoshi Ikeda (born 4 October 1970) is a Japanese football manager and former player. He used to play as a defender. Currently, he is the head coach for the Thailand women's national football team.
Before this, he was the head coach of the Japan women's national football team from 2021 to 2024.

Futoshi Ikeda's Football Journey
Futoshi Ikeda was born in Koganei, Japan, on October 4, 1970. He loved football from a young age. After finishing university, he joined the Urawa Reds football club in 1993.
Playing Days
Ikeda played as a left side back for Urawa Reds. He played in many games during his first year. However, he didn't play as much in 1995. He decided to stop playing football at the end of the 1996 season.
Becoming a Coach
After he stopped playing, Ikeda started coaching. He began his coaching career with Urawa Reds in 1997. He mostly coached the youth teams from 1997 to 2001. Then, he coached the main team from 2002 to 2008.
In 2012, he moved to another club called Avispa Fukuoka. He worked there as a coach until 2016. For a short time in October 2012, he became the caretaker manager. This meant he took charge until a new manager was found.
Coaching Women's National Teams
In 2017, Ikeda became the manager for the Japan women's U-20 national team. He led this team to win the AFC U-19 Championship in 2017. This win helped them qualify for the U-20 World Cup in 2018.
The U-20 Japan team then went on to win the U-20 World Cup in 2018! This was a big achievement. In November of that year, he also became the manager for the Japan women's U-17 national team. He coached them for the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
From 2021 to 2024, Futoshi Ikeda was the head coach of the main Japan women's national team. Now, he is coaching the Thailand women's national football team.
