Gáldar is a town and a municipality in Spain. It is located on the northern part of the island of Gran Canaria. Gran Canaria is one of the Canary Islands. Gáldar is part of the Province of Las Palmas.
The town of Gáldar is found at the base of mountains. It is only about 2 kilometers from the coast. Gáldar is also about 21 kilometers west of Las Palmas. A main road, the GC-2 motorway, runs south of the town.

The main church in Gáldar is called the Iglesia de Santiago. It is dedicated to Saint James.
One of the most famous places in Gáldar is the Painted Cave. This is a very important archaeological site. It has a remarkable cave with ancient paintings. There is also a whole village from before Spanish times. More than 50,000 people visit this site every year.
