About Gabriel Duffy

His Book: Sham to Rock
Gabriel Duffy's book, Sham to Rock, was first published in 2003. It is an autobiography. This means it's a book he wrote about his own life. The book covers his first 17 years. It talks about how he grew up in Catholic Dublin. It explores his physical, mental, and social growth.
The title Sham to Rock has a special meaning. "Sham" stands for the fake or dishonest ways of life right after World War II. "Rock" means a more open and diverse way of living. The book was liked by many people. The Sunday Independent newspaper called it "lively and evocative." The Irish World said his observations would "keep you riveted."
Even though it got good reviews, the book did not sell as many copies as hoped. Because of this, no new versions were printed. Gabriel Duffy had also started writing a second book. It was meant to be a follow-up to Sham to Rock. However, it was never published.
