Gaius was a famous Roman legal expert.

Caius (also spelled Gaius) was an important lawyer who lived a long time ago, in the 2nd century AD. We don't know much about his personal life. However, he created a very important book about Roman law. This book was called Institutiones.

His writings were created between the years 130 AD and 180 AD. They helped shape how law was understood and taught in ancient Rome.
