Games Wizards Play is an exciting fantasy novel. It is the tenth book in the popular Young Wizards series. This book was written by Diane Duane. It continues the story from the previous book, A Wizard of Mars.

What Happens in the Story?
Every eleven years, Earth's top wizards hold a special contest. It is called the Invitational. This event lasts for three weeks. It is where new, talented young wizards show off their amazing spells.
Wizard partners Nita Callahan and Kit Rodriguez are chosen to be mentors. Nita's sister, Dairine Callahan, also becomes a mentor. Nita and Kit guide Penn Shao-Feng. Penn is a very smart wizard. He wants to control solar weather in a new way. Dairine helps Mehrnaz Farrahi. Mehrnaz is a shy wizard from Iran. She wants to stop earthquakes. She also faces pressure from her wizard family. They expect a lot from her.
They all enter a tough competition. It has very strict judges. It is like a magical challenge! Penn is very proud and sometimes rude to Nita. This makes things tricky for Nita and Kit. They are also figuring out their friendship. Meanwhile, Dairine tries to help Mehrnaz feel more confident. Mehrnaz's powerful wizard relatives try to interfere. They want to use her for their own plans.
The final stage of the contest happens on the dark side of the Moon. Both the new wizards and their mentors face a big challenge. This final conflict could change the solar system for the better. Or, it could cause damage to Earth that even wizards cannot fix.
