Ganges, Ohio facts for kids
Ganges is a small place in Ohio, United States. It is known as an "unincorporated community" in Richland County. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that don't have their own local government, like a city or town would. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
The Story of Ganges
Ganges has an interesting past. It wasn't always called Ganges!
Its first name was Trucksville. A man named William Trucks started the community in 1817. He planned out the area, which is called "platting." The place was named after him.
Later, in 1821, a post office opened there. It was called Truxville. But in 1836, the name changed to Ganges. The post office stayed open for many years. It finally closed its doors in 1906. Today, Ganges remains a quiet community in Ohio.
