Playing in the Negro Leagues
After his military service, Garnett Blair became a professional baseball player. He played in the Negro Leagues from 1942 to 1952. He was a pitcher for two well-known teams.
His first team was the Homestead Grays. He played with them from 1942 to 1948. The Grays were one of the most famous teams in the Negro Leagues. After leaving the Grays, Garnett joined the Richmond Giants. He played for the Giants from 1949 to 1952.
Later Baseball Years
Garnett Blair continued to play baseball even after his time in the Negro Leagues. In 1953, he played for the Richmond Colts. This team was part of the Piedmont League. His brother, Lonnie Blair, was also a baseball player. Lonnie played in the Negro Leagues too.
