What Does Ashy Silktassel Look Like?
The ashy silktassel is a shrub, which means it's a woody plant smaller than a tree. It can grow quite tall, sometimes reaching up to three meters (about 10 feet) high.
Its leaves are shaped like ovals. They can be up to 7 or 8 centimeters long (about 3 inches). They are usually about half as wide as they are long. The bottom side of the leaves can be smooth or very hairy. They often have a pale, dusty gray color.
This plant is special because it is dioecious. This means that some plants have only male flowers, and other plants have only female flowers. Both male and female plants grow long, hanging clusters of flowers. After the female flowers bloom, they turn into bunches of round berries. These berries are covered in soft hairs.
