Gary Collier had an exciting career in basketball, first as a player and then as a coach. He was known for his scoring ability and leadership on the court.

College Star at Tulsa

Gary Collier played basketball for four years at the University of Tulsa. He was a very important player for the team, known as the Golden Hurricane. In 1994, he was named the best player in the MVC. This was a big award for him!

Leading Scorer in the NCAA Tournament

During the 1994 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament, Gary Collier was amazing. He led all players in scoring, averaging 31.3 points per game. This showed how skilled he was at putting the ball in the basket.

Professional Career

After college, Gary Collier was chosen by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1994 1994 NBA draft. He was picked in the second round. Even though he was drafted by an NBA team, he never played in the NBA.

Playing in the United States

For the 1994–95 season, Collier played for the Quad City Thunder. This team was part of the Continental Basketball League. It was his first step into professional basketball.

Moving to Europe

After playing in the U.S., Gary Collier moved to Europe to continue his basketball career. He played for several teams in different countries.

  • Belgium: He played his first two seasons in Europe for the Antwerp Diamond Giants. Later, he joined the Basketball Club Oostende, also in Belgium. He also played for Telindus Mons Hainaut for three seasons.
  • Germany: In 1998–99, Collier played for Rhöndorf in Germany's top league, the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). The next season, he played for Skyliners Frankfurt. While playing in Germany, he helped his team win the German Cup in 2000.
  • France: His final season in Europe was with Paris Basket Racing during 2003–2004.

Coaching Career

After his playing days ended, Gary Collier became a basketball coach. He has coached high school teams in Texas.

Coaching High School Basketball

Collier coached the boys' basketball team at Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth for four years. He led them to the state semifinals in 2011, which was a great achievement for the team. As of 2025, Gary Collier is the boys' basketball coach at Crowley High School in the Tarrant County area. He continues to share his knowledge and love for the game with young players.
