What is Gastrodon?
Gastrodon is a special kind of Pokémon because it has two different forms. These forms look very different from each other. Despite their different appearances, both forms of Gastrodon have the same strengths and weaknesses. They are both known as a Water/Ground-type Pokémon. This means they are strong against certain types of Pokémon and weak against others.
Different Forms
Gastrodon comes in two main forms: the East Sea Gastrodon and the West Sea Gastrodon. These names come from where they are found in the Pokémon world. Each form has its own distinct colors and body shape.
East Sea vs. West Sea
The East Sea Gastrodon often has a blue body with green parts. It looks a bit like a sea slug with a shell-like back. The West Sea Gastrodon is usually pink or brown with yellow parts. It has a more rounded shape and different patterns on its back. Even though they look different, they are both the same Pokémon species.
Its Pre-Evolution: Shellos
Before Gastrodon evolves, it is a smaller Pokémon called Shellos. Just like Gastrodon, Shellos also has two different forms. These forms match the East Sea and West Sea Gastrodons. A blue Shellos will evolve into an East Sea Gastrodon. A pink or brown Shellos will evolve into a West Sea Gastrodon.
Where Does Gastrodon Live?
Gastrodon first appeared in the Pokémon Diamond, Pokémon Pearl, and Pokémon Platinum video games. These games are set in the Sinnoh region. In the games, you can find Gastrodon and Shellos in various watery areas. They often live near coasts, beaches, and in caves with water. Their different forms are found on different sides of the Sinnoh region.
Gastrodon's Abilities
As a Water/Ground-type Pokémon, Gastrodon has some interesting abilities. It can use powerful water attacks like Surf or Muddy Water. It can also use ground attacks like Earthquake. Being a Ground-type makes it immune to electric attacks, which is a big advantage. However, it is very weak to grass-type attacks.
