Gasworks: A Home for Artists
Gasworks is part of something called the Triangle Network. This is a big international group that helps artists grow and share their ideas. It's like a worldwide club for artists!
Artist Residencies: A Creative Stay
Nine of the studios at Gasworks are rented by artists who live in London. The other four studios are for an International Residency Programme. This means artists from other countries can come and stay at Gasworks for a while. They get to work on their art, try new things, and share ideas with other artists.
Since 1994, over 200 artists from more than 50 countries have been part of the Gasworks Residency Programme. Some famous artists who have been there include Chris Ofili, Yinka Shonibare, Song Dong, and Lynette Yiadom-Boakye.
These residencies also include programs that work with local community groups. This helps connect artists with the people living nearby. At the end of their stay, artists often open their studios to the public. This is a great chance to see their work and how they create it!
Exciting Exhibitions: See New Art
Gasworks usually hosts up to four art exhibitions each year. These shows feature artists from the UK and other countries who might not have shown their work much in London before. It's a chance to discover new and exciting art!
Along with the exhibitions, Gasworks also has educational programs and activities outside the gallery. These help people understand the art better and get involved in creative projects.
Who Leads Gasworks?
Gasworks has had some great leaders over the years:
