Life and Career
Becoming an Actress
From a young age, Gbemisola Ikumelo dreamed of being a serious actress. When she was just fifteen, she joined the National Youth Theatre, which helps young people learn about acting. She then went on to study acting at the Queen Margaret University School of Drama in Edinburgh, Scotland. She finished her studies in 2003, ready to start her career.
Her Big Break
Gbemisola's acting career really took off in 2015. She got a role in a show called Sunny D, where she played the main character's twin sister. However, she became much more widely known when her own sketch comedy show, Famalam, started airing on the BBC. This show helped her become a popular face in British comedy.

On the Big Screen and Stage
Gbemisola also joined the cast of a new movie in 2022. It's a remake of the 1989 film Road House, and she stars alongside famous actors like Jake Gyllenhaal. She has also performed on stage. For her role in the play Clyde's at the Donmar Warehouse in London, a reviewer from the Financial Times described her performance as "spectacularly scary."
