Eugene Daniel Berce (born November 22, 1926 – died November 17, 2018) was an American basketball player. He was known for his skills on the court. Gene played college basketball for two different teams. Later, he even played a few games in the NBA.

Early Life and College Basketball
Gene Berce was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He loved playing basketball from a young age. He went to Marquette University High School. After high school, he played college basketball.
He first played for the Cornell Big Red team. This was during the 1945–1946 season. Then, he moved to play for the Marquette Golden Eagles. He played for Marquette from 1946 to 1948.
Playing in the NBA
In 1948, Gene Berce was chosen by the New York Knicks in the NBA draft. This was a big step for his basketball career. He played for the Tri-Cities Blackhawks team. This team was part of the NBA.
Gene played in three NBA games during the 1949–1950 season. He scored a total of 10 points in these games. After his time in the NBA, he continued to play for other teams. These included the Oshkosh All-Stars, Saint Paul Lights, and Kansas City Hi-Spots.
A Marquette Legend
Gene Berce made history at Marquette University. He was the very first player from Marquette to score 1,000 points in his college career. This was a huge achievement. Because of his great playing, he was honored. He was inducted into the Marquette Hall of Fame.
