Geneva, Fairfield County, Ohio facts for kids
Geneva is a small place located in Fairfield County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. It is known as an "unincorporated community." This means it is a group of homes and businesses that does not have its own separate local government, like a city or a village would. Instead, it is managed by the larger county government.
A Look Back: History of Geneva
The community of Geneva was given its name because many of its first settlers came from a place called Geneva in Switzerland. They named their new home after their ancestral land.
For a while, Geneva was also known by a different name: Flagdale. A post office was opened in Flagdale in 1887. This post office helped people send and receive letters and packages. However, it only stayed open for a few years, closing down in 1903.
