Geniocracy facts for kids
Geniocracy is a special kind of government. In this system, the country is led by people who are considered very, very smart – like geniuses! People who support geniocracy believe that if the smartest people are in charge, they will make the best decisions for everyone. They think that scientists and experts would use their clever ideas to run the country well.

What is Geniocracy?
Geniocracy comes from two words: "genius" (meaning super smart) and "cracy" (meaning rule or government). So, it means "rule by geniuses." In this idea, leaders are chosen not because they are popular or rich, but because they have very high intelligence.
How Would Leaders Be Chosen?
In a geniocracy, leaders wouldn't be picked by regular elections. Instead, people would take special tests to measure their intelligence and creativity. Only those who score very high would be allowed to become leaders or help make important decisions for the country. The idea is that these smart people would be better at solving big problems and planning for the future.
Who Thought of This Idea?
The idea of geniocracy has been talked about by different thinkers over time. One person who wrote a lot about it was Rael, who published a book called Geniocracy: Government of the People, for the People, by the Geniuses. He suggested that a government run by the most intelligent people would lead to a more peaceful and fair world.
Why Some People Support Geniocracy
Supporters of geniocracy believe it could solve many problems. They think that smart leaders would:
- Make decisions based on facts and logic, not just feelings.
- Find new and clever ways to improve society.
- Plan for the long-term future of the country.
- Avoid mistakes that less intelligent leaders might make.
Why Some People Have Doubts
Even though the idea sounds interesting, many people have questions about geniocracy:
- How do you measure intelligence fairly? It's hard to agree on what "genius" really means and how to test it.
- Is intelligence the only thing that matters? Leaders also need to be kind, fair, and understand people's feelings.
- Could it lead to unfairness? Some worry that a geniocracy might not listen to everyone's ideas, especially those who aren't considered "geniuses."
- What about different kinds of smarts? People can be smart in many ways, like being good at art, music, or understanding people, not just math or science.
Geniocracy in the World
Geniocracy is mostly an idea or a theory. No country in the world today is officially run as a geniocracy. Most countries use different forms of government, like democracy (where people vote for their leaders) or monarchy (where a king or queen rules). However, the idea of having smart and wise leaders is something many people agree on, no matter what kind of government they have.
