History of Gent per Formentera
Early Years and Island Leadership
In the 2007 local elections for the Island Council, GxF received the most votes. They won five seats, called councilors. After the election, GxF worked with the Socialist Party, which had two councilors. This partnership allowed GxF's leader, Jaume Ferrer Ribas, to become the first president of the new Island Council of Formentera.
Continued Success and Growth
In the 2011 elections, GxF won even more seats, getting six councilors. This meant they could continue leading the island's government. The group also won the single seat for Formentera in the Parliament of the Balearic Islands. This made them a voice for the island in the regional government.
Winning with a Clear Majority
By 2015, GxF had grown even stronger. They won the local election for the Island Council with an absolute majority. This means they won more than half of all the votes. They also kept their representative in the regional Parliament. This showed strong support for GxF from the people of Formentera.
