Geoffrey Horne was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on August 22, 1933. His parents were American. His father worked in the oil business. When Geoffrey was five, he moved to Havana to live with his mother. Later, at age fifteen, he went to a special school in New England. He later attended the University of California. There, he decided he wanted to become an actor.
Geoffrey Horne's Acting Career
After college, Geoffrey Horne moved to New York City. He started getting roles on television. One of his early TV appearances was in an adaptation of Billy Budd. He also joined the Actors Studio, a famous place where actors learn and practice their craft.
In 1956, Geoffrey got a small part in the movie The Strange One. This film was special because all the actors were from the Actors Studio. Sam Spiegel signed Geoffrey Horne to a special contract. This meant Geoffrey would make one movie a year for five years with Spiegel's company. Geoffrey felt good about this, saying Spiegel was a man of great taste. He also appeared in Bonjour Tristesse and Tempest.
Geoffrey Horne was considered for a main role in the movie Splendor in the Grass. However, the part eventually went to actor Warren Beatty. In the 1980s, Geoffrey also performed in several plays.
