George Castle (around 1635–1673) was an English doctor. He was also a Fellow of the Royal Society, which is a group of important scientists.

George Castle's Life
George Castle was born around 1635. His father, John Castle, was also a doctor. George went to Thame Grammar School for his early education.
University Studies
When he was seventeen, George started studying at Balliol College, Oxford in 1652. He earned his first degree, a Bachelor of Arts, in 1654. He then got his Master of Arts degree in 1657. In 1655, he became a fellow at All Souls College, Oxford. He continued his medical studies there and became a Doctor of Medicine in 1665.
Medical Career
After finishing his studies, Dr. Castle began working as a doctor in London. He practiced medicine in the area of St. Margaret's, Westminster. In February 1669, he was chosen to be a fellow of the Royal Society. This was a big honor, showing he was a respected scientist.
Later, with help from his friend Martin Clifford, George Castle became the doctor for the Charterhouse. This was a well-known institution. He became quite busy with his medical work.
Later Years
George Castle passed away from a fever on 12 October 1673. He was about 38 years old.
His Important Book
George Castle wrote a book called The Chymical Galenist. It was published in London in 1667.
What the Book Was About
In his book, Castle tried to connect older medical practices with new scientific discoveries. He showed that many old rules and medicines could still be useful in his time. The book also discussed how these ideas applied to people living in northern parts of the world.
