History of the Griswold House
This interesting house was built between 1857 and 1858. Its first owner was a man named George Griswold. He owned a store and moved to Columbus from New York City.
Why the House Was Designed This Way
George Griswold was slowly losing his eyesight. Because of this, he had a special request for the house's design. The floor plan was made to look like the house he grew up in as a child. This was a smart idea! It meant he would already know the layout of his new home. This would make it easier for him to get around, even as his vision got worse.
What the House Is Used For Today
Today, the George Griswold House is no longer a private home. It is now used as a funeral home.
