George Kunda (born February 26, 1956 – died April 16, 2012) was a Zambian lawyer and politician. He served as the 11th Vice-President of Zambia from 2008 to 2011. He worked alongside President Rupiah Banda until their political party lost the election to Michael Sata's party.

Early Life and Education
George Kunda was born on February 26, 1956. His father worked as a miner. George studied at Serenje Boys Technical School. He later earned a law degree from the University of Zambia. After finishing his studies, he began practicing law on April 28, 1982. He started his career working for the Luanshya Municipal Council as a solicitor. A solicitor is a type of lawyer who gives legal advice and prepares legal documents. In 1990, he decided to open his own law firm.
Political Career
Even though George Kunda did not run in the 2001 parliamentary election, he was chosen for one of the eight special seats in Parliament. These seats are appointed, meaning the President selects people for them. In 2002, President Levy Mwanawasa appointed him to two important roles: Minister of Justice and Attorney General. The Minister of Justice oversees the country's legal system. The Attorney General is the chief legal advisor to the government.
In 2006, President Mwanawasa made a change. He appointed Mumba Malila as the new Attorney General. However, George Kunda continued to serve as the Minister of Justice.
Becoming Vice President
From 2008 to September 2011, George Kunda held the high office of Vice-President. He served during the presidency of Rupiah Banda. As Vice-President, he played a key role in the government. For example, at a mining conference in June 2011, Kunda spoke about Zambia's interest in growing its mining industry. He mentioned that Zambia wanted to expand its resources, including iron ore and uranium.
Later Life and Passing
George Kunda passed away on April 16, 2012. He died due to kidney failure. His burial took place on April 20, 2012. He was laid to rest at Leopards Hill Memorial Park in Lusaka, Zambia.
