Sir George Lee, PC (born around 1700 – died 18 December 1758) was an English politician. He was a member of the Whig party. Sir George served in the House of Commons for 25 years. This was from 1733 until his death in 1758.

Early Life and Education
George Lee was born around 1700. His father was Sir Thomas Lee. His older brother, William Lee, became a well-known judge.
George went to Clare College, Cambridge in 1716. He later moved to Christ Church, Oxford in 1720. He studied law at Oxford. He earned degrees in Civil Law in 1724 and 1729. After finishing his studies, he became a lawyer. He started working at Doctors' Commons, a place where lawyers practiced.
Political Career
Sir George Lee was a Member of Parliament (MP). An MP is someone elected to represent people in the British Parliament. He was first elected as an MP for Brackley in 1733. This happened during a special election.
He was re-elected without anyone running against him in 1741. In 1742, he changed his seat and became the MP for Devizes. Later, he represented Liskeard from 1747. In 1754, he was elected unopposed for Launceston. His brother-in-law helped him get this seat.
Important Roles
Sir George held several important government jobs. From 1742 to 1744, he was a Lord of the Admiralty. This role involved managing the British navy. In 1752, he was knighted, which means he received the title "Sir." He also became a Privy Councillor. This is a group of advisors to the King or Queen.
From 1751 to 1757, he worked for Princess Augusta. She was the mother of the future King George III. Sir George was her treasurer, managing her money.
In 1757, Sir George left his job with the princess. This was because another politician, Lord Bute, became very influential. Sir George was briefly considered for a top job, Chancellor of the Exchequer. However, the plan for a new government changed quickly.
Personal Life and Death
Sir George Lee married Judith Morice on 5 June 1742. Judith was the daughter of Humphry Morice. She passed away on 19 July 1743, at the age of 33. She was buried in the Lee family vault. This vault is located in Hartwell Church in Buckinghamshire.
Sir George Lee died suddenly on 18 December 1758. He passed away at his home in London. He was buried next to his wife in the family vault. Sir George did not have any children. He left all his money to his nephew, Sir William Lee, 4th baronet.
