George S. Logan was born on March 5, 1969. He is an American politician who belongs to the Republican Party. He was a member of the Connecticut State Senate from 2017 to 2021. In 2022, he ran for a seat in the United States House of Representatives for Connecticut's 5th congressional district. He lost that election to Jahana Hayes by a very small number of votes.

Early Life and Family Background
George Logan was born in New Haven, Connecticut. His parents grew up in Guatemala. They moved to the United States in the mid-1960s. Three of his grandparents came from Jamaica, and one grandparent was from Nicaragua. George Logan is fluent in Spanish. He describes himself as Afro-Latino.
Education Journey
George Logan attended Notre Dame High School. After high school, he went to Trinity College. There, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering. He then continued his studies at the University of Bridgeport. He received a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Bridgeport.
Professional Career
Before he became a politician, George Logan worked as an engineer. He also held an executive position at the Aquarion Water Company. After he was elected to the State Senate, he became the Director of Environmental Management for the company. He held this role until 2020. Since 2020, Logan has been the Director of Community Relations at Aquarion.

Serving in the State Senate
George Logan represented Connecticut's 17th district in the Connecticut State Senate. He was first elected in 2016. In that election, he surprised many by defeating Joseph Crisco Jr., who had been in office for 24 years. Logan was the first Black Republican ever elected to the Connecticut State Senate.
In 2018, he won reelection after a close vote. He defeated Jorge Cabrera, a labor union activist. However, in a rematch on November 3, 2020, Cabrera narrowly defeated Logan. Logan accepted his defeat on November 5, 2020.
Running for U.S. House in 2022
On July 21, 2021, George Logan announced he would run for the United States House of Representatives. He challenged the current Democratic representative, Jahana Hayes. This election was for Connecticut's 5th congressional district.
Logan lost the election by 2,004 votes. A recount would have happened if the difference was less than 1,250 votes. Experts believed his loss was partly because Hayes won strongly in wealthier suburban areas. These areas had often voted for Republican candidates in the past.
Running for U.S. House in 2024
On October 2, 2023, Logan announced he would run again for Connecticut's 5th congressional district. This was for the 2024 United States House of Representatives elections. He again faced Jahana Hayes in a rematch. Logan lost this election to Hayes.
Personal Life and Hobbies
George Logan is married and has two children. Outside of politics, he is the lead singer for a band called Electric Lady Band USA. This band plays tribute songs to the famous musician Jimi Hendrix. They often perform at places like Toad's Place in New Haven, Connecticut.
