George Montgomery, born on April 26, 1962, is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He played college basketball for the Illinois Fighting Illini. Even though the Portland Trail Blazers picked him in the 1985 NBA draft, he didn't play in the NBA. He is also the father of current NBA player JaVale McGee, who plays for the Sacramento Kings.

George Montgomery was born in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He went to Corliss High School in Chicago, where he played basketball. After high school, he continued his basketball journey at the University of Illinois.
From 1981 to 1985, Montgomery played for the Illinois Fighting Illini college team. He was a strong player, known for his skills as a Power forward. His time in college helped him prepare for a professional career in basketball.
Professional Basketball Career
After his college career, George Montgomery was chosen in the 1985 NBA draft. The Portland Trail Blazers picked him in the second round as the 39th overall pick. However, he did not end up playing in the NBA.
Instead, Montgomery played professional basketball for many years in different leagues and countries. He started with the La Crosse Catbirds in 1985. He then moved to play for teams in Europe and South America.
