Cecilia Margaret Nairn (born Cecilia Margaret Campbell) was a talented Irish artist. She lived from 1791 to 1857. Cecilia was known for her beautiful wax models and paintings. She especially loved painting landscapes with watercolours. She also created amazing wax flowers. Her artwork was shown in many important art shows. For example, her paintings were displayed at the Royal Hibernian Academy from 1826 to 1851.

Cecilia Nairn's Art Career

Cecilia learned to paint from her father, John Henry Campbell. He was also a painter. She started showing her art when she was just eighteen years old. In 1809, she sent her work to an exhibition in Dublin. She continued to show her art there until 1821.

Later, Cecilia also shared her art at the Royal Hibernian Academy. This was between 1826 and 1847. She showed her work in towns like Killarney and Wicklow. Today, the Ulster Museum has several of her watercolour paintings.

Her Life and Family

Cecilia Margaret Campbell was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1791. She had two brothers. Her brother John lived in Belfast and designed patterns for fabrics. Her other brother, Charles, was an army officer.

Cecilia married George Nairn, who was a painter too. He was known for painting horses. Their children also became artists. Their daughter, Anna Langley Nairn, and their son, John Campbell Nairn, both followed in their parents' footsteps. George Nairn passed away in 1850 after being ill. Cecilia Nairn died shortly after, in 1857, at the age of 65.
