George Nevill, 4th Baron Bergavenny facts for kids

George Neville was the son of Edward Neville, who was the 3rd Baron Bergavenny. His mother was Elizabeth Beauchamp.

He became a knight on May 9, 1471. This special honor was given to him by King Edward IV. George Neville received it after he fought bravely for the King. This happened at the Battle of Tewkesbury. In 1476, he took over his father's title and lands.

Family Life

George Neville was married twice. His first wife was Margaret Fenn. They married before May 1, 1471. Margaret passed away on September 28, 1485.

Together, George and Margaret had seven children. They had six sons and one daughter:

• George Neville, who later became the 5th Baron Bergavenny. He was born around 1469.
• John Neville.
• William Neville.
• Sir Edward Neville. He was born in 1471 and died in 1538.
• Sir Thomas Neville. He was born around 1484 and died in 1542. He was a Speaker of the House of Commons.
• Sir Richard Neville. He was born before 1485.
• Elizabeth Neville.

George Neville's second wife was Elizabeth Brent. They did not have any children together.

George Neville was a captain in the English army stationed at Calais in 1490. He passed away in 1492.
