- He was also the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire for 1567–68.
- By 1565, he became an Esquire of the Body. This meant he was a personal attendant to the monarch, a very trusted position.
- In 1568, he was knighted at Hatfield by Robert, Earl of Leicester. Being knighted was a great honor, showing that the Queen recognized his service.
