Georgetown is a small, unincorporated community located in Stoney Creek Township, Randolph County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. An unincorporated community means it does not have its own local government. Instead, it is managed by the county or township.

History of Georgetown

Georgetown was first planned and "laid out" in the year 1835. To "lay out" a town means that its streets and building lots were mapped and prepared for people to settle there.

However, Georgetown never grew into a large or important town. By 1882, it was described as "totally extinct." This means that it no longer existed as a functioning town or community. People likely moved away, and the original settlement faded over time.
