Early Life
Georgia King was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. Her dad is Jonathan Hyde, an actor from Australia. Her mom is Isobel Buchanan, a Scottish opera singer.
Acting Career
Georgia King always dreamed of becoming a director. But she got her first acting job when she was 18. She was working at a cheese shop at the time! Her first professional role was Rosamond Oliver in the TV show Jane Eyre. This was her very first audition, and she got the part!
She almost missed out on the role, though. A week before filming, Georgia had stomach pains. Her appendix had burst, and she needed surgery. Her agent told the producers she would need at least ten days to recover. Another actress was chosen for the part. But Georgia recovered quickly and was able to film.
Famous Roles
Georgia is well-known for playing Goldie in the American TV comedy The New Normal. Goldie was a surrogate mother in the show.
Before that, she was praised for her role as Harriet Bentley in the 2008 film Wild Child. Harriet was a very bossy head-girl. In 2009, she played Sophie in the movie Tormented. She also played Victoria in the film Tanner Hall that same year.
Georgia appeared as Princess Elena in an episode of the BBC show Merlin. This was in the third season, in an episode called "The Changeling." She also acted in the 2011 film Chalet Girl. Later, she was in the comedy horror film Cockneys vs Zombies. In this movie, she played a bank robbery hostage trying to escape from zombies in London.
From 2016 to 2017, Georgia was a regular cast member in the HBO comedy Vice Principals. She played a character named Amanda Snodgrass. In May 2023, Georgia shared on Instagram that she had become a mother. She has been in a relationship with comedian Ben Schwartz for several years.
