Get Ace is an exciting Australian animated TV show. It was made by Galaxy Pop, and created by Dina McPherson and Gian Christian. The series is all about Ace McDougal, a young boy with amazing super-powered dental braces. The show first aired on Eleven on January 19, 2014. It quickly became very popular, ranking first among animated shows.
What is Get Ace About?
Imagine you go to the dentist and get super spy gear by mistake! That's what happens to Ace McDougal. He's just a normal high school student. But a mix-up gives him high-tech braces.
These braces have tons of gadgets. They also come with a holographic artificial intelligence program named Hugo. Only Ace can see Hugo. Ace and Hugo, whose full name is Holographic User Guidance Operative, must learn to work together. They need to keep the braces a secret and safe.
The braces were meant for Ned Krinkle. He is an evil spy and a master of disguise. Ned will do anything to get his braces back. Ned and his equally evil mother, Hilda, are always trying to kidnap Ace. They want to reclaim the braces for themselves.
Ace tries to live a normal life every day. But he always has to watch out for Ned and Hilda's crazy plans. They are always trying to steal the braces right out of his mouth! Episodes often show Ace using the braces to make his life easier. But things usually go wrong for him. You'll also see Ned and Hilda's increasingly tricky ways to catch Ace.
Meet the Characters!
- Hunter "Ace" McDougal (voiced by David Myles Brown)
Ace is a 13-year-old who is a bit nerdy. He has a lot of confidence, even if it's not always earned. Ace loves exciting and confusing situations. He stays positive and jumps into action quickly. Sometimes he acts before thinking, which often gets him into trouble. This happens even before Ned and Hilda make their move!
- Hugo (voiced by Lyall Brooks)
H.U.G.O. stands for Holographic User Guidance Operative. He is the smart computer hologram that runs Ace's braces. Hugo looks like a younger version of Ned. But Ned is not very smart, while Hugo is a super intelligent genius. Hugo has a very distinct personality. He is fussy and thinks he's better than others. He has fancy tastes and a sharp, sarcastic sense of humor. This makes him and Ace a very funny team!
- Ned Krinkle (voiced by Lyall Brooks)
Ned is an evil spy who is great at disguises. He can perfectly copy anyone's look and voice. The only way to spot Ned is by his jagged teeth. He can never change this one part of his appearance. Ace always has to look out for them. Ned is childish and a bit of a coward. He often throws tantrums or cries when things don't go his way.
- Hilda Krinkle (voiced by Amanda Harrison)
Hilda is a brilliant villain with many years of spy experience. She might have been at her best during the Cold War. But she is still fit, athletic, and as quick as a ninja. Hilda loves her son Ned very much. She often treats him like a small child. She is usually the one who comes up with the plans. She will do anything to get the braces for Ned. But she often puts Ned in dangerous situations to do it!
