The Story of Getting There
The movie Getting There is about twin sisters, Taylor and Kylie Hunter. They are played by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. It's their 16th birthday, and they just got their driver's licenses! To celebrate, they plan an exciting road trip to Salt Lake City, Utah. Their goal is to see the 2002 Winter Olympics with their friends.
Road Trip Troubles
Their adventure quickly hits a snag. While stopping at a restaurant, their car is stolen! Next, they accidentally board the wrong plane. Instead of Utah, they end up in San Diego. But the twins are determined to reach the Olympics. They decide to take a bus from LA to Las Vegas.
Lost and Found in Vegas
On the way to Vegas, the group gets separated at a gas station. Kylie and some friends make it to Las Vegas. There, they unexpectedly become part of a Vegas wedding! Meanwhile, Taylor and the other friends are stranded in a very small town.
A Helping Hand
Taylor tries to contact her sister. She meets a girl named Charly, who offers them a ride in her pickup truck. But Charly's truck soon breaks down. It turns out Charly is not just a simple farm girl. She lives in a huge mansion and even owns a private jet! Her dad kindly offers to fly all the teenagers to Salt Lake City.
Olympic Dreams and Surprises
Taylor and Kylie finally arrive in Utah. Sadly, they are too late to see the Olympics. Taylor is especially sad because she missed seeing her favorite athlete, Alex Reisher. But the friends decide to have their own fun. They create their own "Olympics" games. Taylor spends the day skiing with a young man. She doesn't see his face clearly. A month later, the girls get their car back. Taylor sees her picture in the newspaper. She realizes the young man she skied with was Alex Reisher!
