Giani Stelian Kiriță (born March 3, 1977) is a former professional football player from Romania. He played as a defensive midfielder, a position where players help protect their team's goal and also start attacks. Kiriță is known for his strong play and for winning several important trophies during his career.

Playing for Football Clubs
Giani Kiriță was born in Bucharest, Romania. He started playing football when he was about 11 years old at a children's club called Turistul Lebăda.
Early Career in Romania
Kiriță began his senior football career at Rocar București. After playing there for half a season, he was loaned to Dinamo București. He made his top-league debut in Romania on April 19, 1997, in a match where Dinamo won 3–0 against Universitatea Cluj.
The next season, after playing a bit more for Rocar, he officially joined Dinamo București. This was a very successful time for him.
Winning Trophies with Dinamo București
With Dinamo București, Giani Kiriță won "The Double" in the 1999–2000 season. This means his team won both the league title and the national cup in the same year. He played in 32 league games that season and scored three goals. He also played the full match when Dinamo won the Cupa României final (Romanian Cup final) by beating Universitatea Craiova 2–0.
He won another Cupa României in 2001. In that final, Dinamo beat his old team, Rocar, 4–2. Kiriță also helped Dinamo win his second league title in the 2001–02 season. His last trophy with Dinamo was the 2002–03 Cupa României in 2003.
Playing in Turkey
In 2003, Giani Kiriță moved to Turkey to play in the Süper Lig, which is Turkey's top football league. He played for several Turkish clubs, including Samsunspor, Gaziantepspor, Ankaragücü, and Bursaspor.
At Bursaspor, he achieved another big success. He helped the team win the 2009–10 Süper Lig title. This was a historic moment because it was the first time Bursaspor had ever won the league title! They won by just one point over Fenerbahçe. Kiriță played in eight games that season and scored one important goal in a 1–0 win against Gaziantepspor.
Returning to Romania and Retirement
In January 2012, Kiriță returned to Romania. He signed with FCM Târgu Mureș. He played his last game in Romania's top league on May 21, 2012.
Giani Kiriță ended his football career in December 2012 at CS Buftea, a team in Romania's second division. For a short time, he was both a player and the coach for CS Buftea.
Throughout his career, Giani Kiriță played many matches. He had 163 games and nine goals in Romania's top league, 162 games and 15 goals in Turkey's top league, and 15 games in European competitions.

Giani Kiriță also played for the Romanian national team four times.
His first game for Romania was a friendly match against Poland, which ended in a 1–1 draw. He also played in another friendly game against Slovenia.
His last two games for the national team were important matches for the 2002 World Cup qualifiers. He played in a 2–0 win against Hungary and a 1–1 draw with Georgia.

Giani Kiriță was raised by his mother, grandmother, and older sister. He married Daniela Milu in 2000, and they later divorced in 2007. They have a daughter and a son together.
After he stopped playing football, Kiriță appeared on several TV shows in Romania. He even had his own TV show called Giani Kiriță, antrenat la Școala Vieții (which means Giani Kiriță, coached at the School of Hard Knocks). He also took part in an amateur mixed martial arts fight, which he won by knockout.
Kiriță is a big fan of hip hop music. He especially likes the American rapper DMX and even had a copy of DMX's chain. For a while, he had "DMX" written on his car's license plate. He also likes the hip hop group B.U.G. Mafia, who are from his old neighborhood in Bucharest.
