As a child, Gigi dreamed of being a part of the disco music world. He first worked as a stonemason and a fitter. Then, he began his music career by organizing parties in clubs.
His first DJ performance was at a club near Turin called "Woodstock". He also worked at a small club called Palladio from 1987 to 1992. From 1993 to 1998, he was the main DJ at an Italian disco called Ultimo Impero.
Music Career
The 1990s: Rising Star
Gigi D'Agostino's first music release was Noise Makers Theme. This song helped start the Noise Maker music label. He continued to work with other producers, like Daniele Gas and Mauro Picotto.
As a DJ, Gigi D'Agostino became known for his "Mediterranean Progressive Dance" style. This music had simple sounds and Latin-inspired tunes. When he produced music, he used the name "Gigi Dag". He could turn a song meant for clubs into a popular hit for everyone.
After successful songs like "Sweetly", he joined Media Records. His single "FLY" was released in 1996 and quickly became a top seller in Italy. This was followed by his song "Gigi's Violin".
He then released "Angel's Symphony" with R.A.F. by Mauro Picotto. His biggest project was his first album, Gigi D'Agostino. It had 19 songs and sold over 60,000 copies.
After becoming famous, Gigi D'Agostino's music style changed. It became more melodic, mixing house and progressive sounds. This new style is also known as Italo dance.
In 1997, he released the song "Gin Lemon". More hits followed, including "Your Love (Elisir)" (1998), "Cuba Libre" (1999), and "Bla Bla Bla" (1999).
He also released the album Eurodance Compilation, which had five new songs. This album earned him a platinum disc. He was also named "Best Producer in 1999" at the Italian Dance Awards. In October, he released another hit song, "Another Way".
In 1999, his album L'Amour Toujours came out. It had 23 songs on two CDs. The hit song "L'Amour Toujours" reached the top 10 in Italy and earned him another Platinum Disc. His 1999 song "Bla Bla Bla" became a huge hit in Europe. Gigi described it as "a piece I wrote thinking of all the people who talk and talk without saying anything!"
The 2000s: Continued Success
