George "Gino" Washington, born around 1946, is an American singer. He grew up in Detroit, Michigan. During his music career, Gino sang rhythm and blues, rock and roll, and Northern soul songs.
Early Music Success
While Gino Washington was a student at Pershing High School, he became popular locally. He had two hit songs in 1963 and 1964. These songs were "Out of This World" and "Gino Is a Coward."
Gino Washington was also the very first artist to sign with Ric-Tic Records. This was a record company that helped many musicians share their music.
Time in the Army
In 1964, Gino Washington was called to serve in the U.S. Army. He served in both Japan and South Vietnam. After he returned home, his music career slowed down for a while.
Later Career
In the 1970s, Gino Washington hosted his own TV show. It was a variety show, meaning it featured different kinds of acts. This show was broadcast in Detroit.
