In 1591, about 300 people lived in Giumaglio. By 1761, this number dropped to 125. Then, the population started to grow again. In 1801, there were 188 residents. By 1850, it reached 413 people. After that, the number of residents went down again. In 1900, there were 232 people. By 1970, it was 167. The population then grew a little. In 2000, 202 people lived there. In 2003, it was 210. The village covered an area of about 13.17 square kilometers.

Becoming Part of Maggia

In 2004, Giumaglio joined the larger municipality of Maggia. This means Giumaglio is now a part of Maggia. It is no longer a separate municipality. This change helps with local government and services.
