Giuseppe "Peppe" Poeta (born September 12, 1985) is a famous Italian basketball player who is now a coach. He used to play as a point guard for many teams. Today, he is the head coach for Germani Brescia in Italy's top basketball league, the Lega Basket Serie A (LBA).

Playing Career Highlights
Giuseppe Poeta started his basketball journey in the lower divisions. He played for Pallacanestro Salerno for five seasons. After that, he joined Prima Veroli in the third division.
Early Success and Big Scores
While playing for Veroli, Poeta had an amazing game. On November 7, 2005, he scored 51 points! This helped his team win 114–105 against Forlì.
Moving to the Top League
In 2006, Poeta moved up to the first division, joining Teramo Basket in the Serie A. In the 2008-09 season, he helped his team reach the league play-offs. This was a big achievement for them.
Time with Virtus Bologna
Next, Poeta joined Virtus Bologna. He played well for two seasons and even became the team captain. They made it to the play-offs both times. After a tough 2012-13 season, Poeta left the team in November 2013.
Playing in Spain
Leaving Virtus Bologna turned out to be a good thing for Poeta. He got to join Laboral Kutxa Vitoria in Spain. This team played in the tough Liga ACB and the top European league, EuroLeague. In his first game on January 12, 2014, he scored 13 points in the last part of the game. This helped his team win against Gipuzkoa.
He then played for another Spanish team, La Bruixa d'Or Manresa, in the 2014–15 season. However, an injury kept him from playing most of the games that year.
Return to Italy
In July 2015, Poeta came back to Italy. He signed a one-year contract with Dolomiti Energia Trento. On June 29, 2016, he joined Auxilium Torino for the 2016–17 season.
Winning the Italian Cup
A big moment in Poeta's career happened on February 18, 2018. He won the Italian Basketball Cup with Fiat Torino. They beat Germani Basket Brescia 69–67 in the Finals.
Later, on June 24, 2019, he signed with Reggio Emilia. After the season, he moved to Vanoli Cremona on August 5, 2020. He played there until 2022.
Playing for Italy
Giuseppe Poeta also played for the Italian national team. He was first called up in 2007 and became a regular player. He was part of the team for EuroBasket 2013. He also joined the team for EuroBasket 2015, but he didn't make the final roster.
Coaching Career
After his playing career, Poeta became a coach. In 2022, he joined Coach Ettore Messina's team at Olimpia Milano. With them, he helped win the Italian championship (scudetto) in 2023 and 2024.
He is also an assistant coach for the Italian national team. He helped coach them in the 2022 European Championships and the 2023 World Cup. He is currently helping prepare the team for upcoming international games.
