Giuseppe Prezzolini was born in Perugia, Italy, in January 1882. His parents were from Siena, a city in Tuscany.
In 1903, when he was 21, he started a literary magazine called Leonardo with his friend Giovanni Papini. A few years later, in 1908, he started another important cultural magazine called La Voce. This magazine became very popular and had a big impact on Italian culture.
In 1929, Prezzolini moved to the United States. There, he taught at Columbia University in New York. He also led the Casa Italiana, which is a center for Italian culture at the university. He wrote many books in both Italian and English. These books included essays on philosophy, history, and literary criticism.
Giuseppe Prezzolini passed away in Lugano, Switzerland, on July 16, 1982, at the age of 100.
