Glasgow is a small, quiet place in Columbiana County, Ohio, in the United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a city or town with its own local government. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
A Look Back: Glasgow's Story
Glasgow began to take shape in 1852. This is when its streets and lots were officially mapped out, a process called platting. The people who first settled here had a special reason for its name. They came from Glasgow, Scotland, and wanted to honor their homeland.
A post office was opened in Glasgow even earlier, in 1839. This was a very important place back then. It helped people send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years, until it closed its doors in 1902.
